| System Maintainence |
The system should maintain the database in good working order. Each time you open the program the system will make a backup of the database and attempt some general system maintainence on the database. If for whatever reason you are unable to enter the system, try overwriting the database with one of the backup databases - the system keeps backups of the database from the previous 7 days and names them backupyyyymmdd.mdb. To do this go to your Delivery Manager directory under Windows Explorer (probably c:\program files\delivery manager), right click on delman.mdb and rename it to delmanx.mdb, right click on backupyyyymmdd.mdb file you want to use, select copy, then click in the blank space in your installation directory and select PASTE. You then need to right click on this file and rename it to delman.mdb.
As a general policy, you should include the Delivery Manager directory in your regular system backups to tape, CD, DVD, disk, etc. The minimum time between system backups should be the amount of time/work you would want to lose in the event of a system failure. Catastrophic system failures are not uncommon and if you do not have any recent backups you may lose all your data.. As a minimum recommendation, your system should be backed up to removable media and held off-site at least once a week.
