Planning your installation

In order to be able to use Delivery Manager to manage your deliveries, you will first need to take stock of all the components of the management process.  Specifically this means that you will need a list of the following items:

• All Products delivered by your organisation, as well as any grouping of products
• All Vehicles used by your organisation
• All possible delivery areas (eg North, South, Hills District, etc).  A delivery area is a region or a group of suburbs that makes sorting the jobs easier.  If you do not use delivery areas then you can use just one area for all jobs.  You must create at least one delivery area.
• All possible delivery times.  These can be a time range or whatever text you like.  (eg 10:00-12:00, 14:00-16:00, after 16:00, etc).  These can also be ordered in whatever order you like.
• Any Special Pricing Groups or Customer Categories (a method of grouping customers together).

Once you have made these lists you can begin to enter them into the system via the Tools/Maintain menu item.  This may take a little while if you have large number of products, vehicles, etc.

The recommended approach to installation of Delivery Manager is to trial the system on, perhaps, one or two vehicles to begin with.  Once you are comfortable with the operation of the system, you can then enter the remaining jobs (for all other vehicles).  Trialling the software on a smaller section of vehicles and products will help to familiarise the operators with the operation of the program.
